Metrology, the science of measurement, is one of those branches of Quality that aren’t discussed much but as a Quality Manager can make your life difficult, especially if your organization is pursuing ISO certification.  As a 20+ year quality practitioner, Mr. Rutherford has seen metrology both as a customer, when he was a Quality Manager in the packaging industry, and as a service provider.  Scott’s presentation will cover the basics of metrology, using a multimedia presentation developed by the Measurement Quality Division; and then discuss how metrology services impact organizations and processes.  We will discuss how Quality managers can be a smarter consumer of metrology services and their linkage to managing measurement systems of processes.

Speaker: Scott Rutherford is currently the Lab Director of the US Navy’s Mid-Atlantic Regional Calibration Center on Naval Station Norfolk.
